Why I Am So Thankful (and you should be, too!)

Nov 22

I, for one, am absolutely guilty of forgetting to take pause in order to reflect on the things that I am truly thankful for in this world. (My wife is extremely patient with this unfortunate disability.) I am not one to wear my heart on my sleeve. Yet, this morning, while enjoying my coffee as the snow flutters outside my window, I’ve had a little time to reflect on the past eleven months and realize that I have a great deal to be thankful for. So do you!

First, I am thankful to be surrounded by hundreds to passionately like-minded partners across the country who are standing up to make a difference in their communities. In less than a year we have been able to find more than a hundred dedicated souls to launch RelyLocal in about three hundred cities and towns across America. From California to Maine we are honored to be able to serve and support these people in their quest to strengthen their communities – especially in these tough times.

Second, I am truly thankful to live in a community that is so supportive of one another. I am thankful for the local grocer who has partnered with us to raise money for struggling non-profits. I am thankful for the local credit union that was willing to take a chance on a crazy idea that no big bank would touch. I am thankful for the local manufacturer that makes better product than anywhere else in the country. I am thankful for all of the RelyLocal stickers that I see popping up on cars in my own little community. Simply put, in a world that so often focuses on the negative, I am thankful to be at the center of something truly positive.

It’s been a fantastic year! We have created hundreds of new jobs, enabling us to serve thousands of small local businesses across the country! However, most of all, whenever one of our partners or member calls or writes to say “thanks”, I just want to give them a hug and say, “No, thank you!”

Please join me in giving thanks for all of the our small business owners who feed and clothe us every day. Don’t forget about those who help us with our taxes, who keep our furnaces running, who fix our flat tires, who fix our broken teeth, who make us our mochas, and who take our dogs for walks. These people serve us every day, and they deserve our thanks. So, please – give it to them.

Sincerely,
Steve Ramsey

  1. Hey Steve and family,

I too share your sentiments of thankfulness! I appreciate you sharing with all of us.

I am learning something new everyday, in regards to all the great little businesses out there and people that run them. I stll have lots to learn and lot more folks to see. To campaign and do something you believe in makes working hard more gratifying.

This Thanksgiving I will be thankful for my family, meeting all the great folks at RelyLocal and to be able to do something I love!!
